College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi participated in the NAIROBI INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR 2019 from 30th SEP-6th Oct 2019.
The Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF) was held from 30th September to October 6th 2019 at the Jamuhuri Grounds, Nairobi. The theme for the 2019 was “Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade”. The college of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) participated in the event, being major partners and contributors to the efforts of increasing agricultural productivity in the country in line with vision 2030 and the big 4 agenda. The University of Nairobi, CAVS is a key player in areas of Agricultural innovations, food safety and quality, agricultural processing and value addition, environmental conservation and capacity development in agriculture and agro-based industry. The college actively participated in the Farm and Dairy section, where the Vet Farm, Field Station, Pilot Plant and Animal Production Department competed in the exhibition categories of selected entries. The NITF show was officially opened by his Excellency the President of Kenya, Hon Uhuru Kenyatta on Wed 2nd October 2019. The vice-chancellor of the University of Nairobi, Prof. Isaac Mbeche and the Principal College of Agriculture Prof. Rose Nyikal braced the occasion during the official opening of the event. The DVC, Human Resource. Prof. Stephen Kiama also visited the UoN stand and units that participated in the NITF 2019 on 3rd October 2019. The NITF platform provides the opportunity for UoN researchers to interact with stakeholders, clients, partners and the public in showcasing achievements as well as getting feedback on the needs of different partners and stakeholders.
